The Annie Okonkwo Foundation, TAOF, once again exhibited its philanthropy when the Chairman of its board, Lolo Chinyere Okonkwo, \u00a0celebrated the New Year with widows from Idemili Idemili North and South Local Government Area of Anambra State, on January 2, 2025.<\/p>\n
Lolo Okonkwo, who is the widow of the late Senator Annie Okonkwo, is pioneering the Foundation in memory of the former Senator, who transited to glory last year.<\/p>\n
She was ably supported by her son, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, who represents Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n
The joyous event commenced with a Catholic Mass at the Chapel of Divine Mercy in the country home of Hon. Okonkwo.<\/p>\n
The officiating priest, Rev. T. C. Okoye, commended the Okonkwo family for their consistent philanthropic efforts, noting that the family had been organising similar events for the past three decades.<\/p>\n
He prayed for continued blessings upon the Okonkwo family and the widows, who were drawn from the 17 towns of Idemili.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Lolo Okonkwo explained that the rice, clothes, and cash gifts she distributed were from The Annie Okonkwo Foundation (TAOF).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Annie Okonkwo Foundation is a foundation established to carry forward the legacy of compassion, empowerment, and service in memory of my beloved husband, Senator Annie Okonkwo. At TAOF, we are passionate about the welfare of vulnerable people in society, quality healthcare, and scholarships for the less privileged,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Hon. Okonkwo stated that the event organised by The Annie Okonkwo Foundation is not politically motivated but meant to continue his late father’s philanthropic legacy.<\/p>\n

He explained that the Foundation, formerly the Agunechemba Foundation, was renamed The Annie Okonkwo Foundation to honour his father\u2019s memory.<\/p>\n
The lawmaker further said TAOF\u2019s primary aim is to ensure that vulnerable people have access to quality education, healthcare, and welfare.<\/p>\n
\u00a0He also clarified that the TAOF event was separate from his food bank initiative, promising that the programme would be recurrent.<\/p>\n
