Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senator, representing Abia South in the National Assembly has indicated his readiness to stand as guarantor for Nnamdi Kanu, the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker also expressed optimism that President Bola Tinubu will release the pro-Biafra agitator.<\/div>\n

He described Tinubu as a listening leader, and believes the president would do the needful to address the criminal activities in the South-east.<\/div>\n
\nAbaribe bared his mind in a chat with newsmen during his visit to the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker is hopeful\u00a0 that Tinubu would heed the advice of the Attorney General of the Federation and others who have clamoured for Kanu’s release.<\/p>\n

\u201cI expect that the President will listen to both his Attorney General and every one of us who have been agitating about the issues in the Southeast. First of all, the insurgency, the sit-at-home on Mondays, and every other thing we have noticed in the Southeast,” Abaribe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we now know in the Southeast is that criminals and all other people who advocate violence have taken over and are using the name of Nnamdi Kanu to perpetrate all these despicable acts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that the President, being a listening man, will also look at all the issues involved, which we have presented to him from various mediums; that he will do the needful and release Nnamdi Kanu so that it will put a stop to all these things that are happening in the Southeast and bring back the South-east as the hub of production in Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on the president’s Tax Reform Bills currently before the National Assembly, the lawmaker said releasing Kanu would help to make the area productive.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u201cYou cannot tax people who don\u2019t produce,\u201d he reasoned.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe needs Nnamdi Kanu out so that all those things that are holding us down in the South-east, that have made us not to produce as much as we ought to produce, will not be there,\u201d Abaribe maintained.<\/p>\n

To facilitate the IPOB leader’s release and recover the region from violent criminals, Abaribe pledged that political leaders in the region are ready to stand as guarantors for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe continue to call on President Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu. We are ready and willing to be the guarantors for him to be released so that we can have life coming back into the South-east and take it away from the criminals, kidnappers, the cultists and dangerous elements,\u201d he he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
