A tanker explosion on Sunday has led to the death of two and the destruction of several properties, including vehicles at Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.<\/div>\n

There were sketchy details as to what caused the tanker explosion in which some said four people died.<\/p>\n

It was gathered from eyewitnesses that the 33,000-litre tanker\u00a0reportedly fell on a vehicle while its driver was trying to avoid hitting the same vehicle.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Others, however, said the driver was making a turn on the busy Old Lagos\/Asaba Road in Agbor main town, close to First Bank when tragedy struck but another source attributed it to brake failure on the part of the tanker.<\/p>\n

SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, confirmed the death of two persons in the incident.<\/p>\n

However, Edafe noted in a statement, which was made available to newsmen\u00a0that the tanker was laden with diesel, and not fuel, as was earlier reported.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Delta State Governor,\u00a0\u00a0has condoled with the families of victims of the fire incident.<\/p>\n

The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, described the fire incident as horrifying and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and fortitude to those bereaved in the unfortunate disaster.<\/p>\n

He directed the State Ministry of Health, the State Emergency Management Agency and other relevant authorities to expedite action by providing the urgent support to all victims of the incident.<\/p>\n

The governor also commended the Fire Service, the good people of Ika South Local Council and security agencies who rallied round to put out the inferno and their dedication to assisting those affected by the fire incident.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
