\u00a0Deji Adeyanju, human rights activist and lawyer has apologised to Umar Damagun the acting National Chairman, and Senator Samuel Anyanwu,\u00a0\u00a0the\u00a0National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over alleged defamatory comments about the duo.<\/div>\n
\nAdeyanju had in an interview on a podcast claimed that Damagun and Anyanwu omwere serving tea and\u00a0 \u2018Kilishi\u2019 in the house of Femi Gbajabiamila, President Bola Tinubu\u2019s Chief of Staff.<\/div>\n
\nFurthermore, he also accused the duo of being being Tinubu’s moles in the PDP alongside Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.<\/p>\n

Consequently, Damagun and Anyanwu threatened to legal action against Adeyanju over the remarks, which they considered defamatory.<\/p><\/div>\n

However, Adeyanju in a December 6 letter, signed by Zainab Otega, stated that the \u201cstatements were not intended to defame your clients\u201d, from his law firm, law firm, Deji Adeyanju & Partners, apologised while retracting the statements.<\/div>\n
\n\u201cWe are solicitors to Deji Adeyanju, Esq (hereinafter referred to as our client), on whose instruction we act,” the letter read.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur client received two letters from the law firm of the revered Senior Advocate of Nigeria, J. J. Usman, alleging that some statements he made on a podcast a few weeks ago were deemed defamatory of Damagun and Anyanwu, the National Chairman and Secretary of the PDP respectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur client\u2019s statements on the podcast were taken out of the bigger context of the conversation which is the need for the leadership of the People\u2019s Democratic Party to provide a virile opposition to the ruling party.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese statements were not intended to defame your clients, and any perception of defamation in the said statements is regretted and withdrawn with apologies.<\/p>\n
