{"id":3643,"date":"2024-12-06T14:45:03","date_gmt":"2024-12-06T14:45:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/?p=3643"},"modified":"2024-12-06T14:45:03","modified_gmt":"2024-12-06T14:45:03","slug":"appeal-court-upturns-kano-anti-corruption-boss-suspension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/index.php\/2024\/12\/06\/appeal-court-upturns-kano-anti-corruption-boss-suspension\/","title":{"rendered":"Appeal Court upturns Kano anti-corruption boss\u2019 suspension"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3644\" src=\"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/download-8-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/download-8-2.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/panoramanews.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/download-8-2-150x150.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By Amah<\/p>\n<p>Kindly share:<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">A three-member panel of justices of the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday, upturned the order of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, which suspended the Chairman, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, PCACC, Mr. Muhuyi Magaji.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In the lead judgment read by Justice Umaru Fadawu, the appeal court also ordered the re-assignmrnt of the matter to another panel of the CCT.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe panel agreed that the tribunal\u2019s order was prejudicial and amounted to denying the suspect fair hearing, as argued by Mr Adeola Adedipe, SAN, Magaji\u2019s counsel.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nA three-member Code of Conduct<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">tribunal headed by Justice Danladi Umar, ordered the Magaji&#8217;s\u00a0suspension, following allegations of misconduct preferred against\u00a0 him by the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Justice Umar, in his ruling,\u00a0\u00a0dismissed Magaji\u2019s motion, and held that the tribunal competent and possessed the jurisdiction to hear the case, ordering the Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf\u00a0 and the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, to appoint the most appropriate officer as acting chairman of the commission, pending when the case would be determination.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He further held that Magaji cannot continue to discharge the duties and responsibilities of his office while facing trial, to avoid any interference with the case.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Magaji proceeded on appeal through his counsel, Mr Adedipe, approached the Court of Appeal, Abuja.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Amah Kindly share: A three-member panel of justices of the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday, upturned the&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":3644,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[294,2],"tags":[936],"class_list":["post-3643","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-entertainment-showbiz","category-news","tag-public-complaints-and-anti-corrruption-commission"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.8 -
