Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja,\u00a0Tinubu had on 30 October appointed Oluyede in acting capacity but sought his confirmation as substantive army Chief, after Lagbaja&#8217;s death on November 5.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">However, Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, announced Mr Oluyede\u2019s confirmation during plenary on Tuesday after he was cleared by the senators through voice votes.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Oluyede&#8217;s appointment was confirmed after the Red Chamber had considered the report presented by\u00a0 Abdulaziz Yar\u2019adua, the Chairman,\u00a0Senate Committee on Army.<\/p>\n<p>Yar\u2019adua, the senator, representing Katsina Central Senatorial District, affirmed that after the screening, his committee was considered Oluyede qualified to be the army chief, having also been cleared by the\u00a0State Security Service, SSS.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, President Tinubu&#8217;s request for the confirmation of Oluyede as Nigeria\u2019s substantive Chief of Army Staff was approved with Simon Lalong, the senator representing Plateau South seconding the presentation of the report.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oluyede By Publisher Kindly share: The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as the substantive Chief of Army&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":3596,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[294,2],"tags":[929],"class_list":["post-3595","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-entertainment-showbiz","category-news","tag-chief-of-army-staff"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.8 -
