Residents of Jenta Adamu, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Friday lynched some cult members and burnt their corpses.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that the suspected cult members, who had been causing distress in the area,\u00a0 stormed the community and tried to rob residents.<\/p>\n

Alfred Alabo, the Police the spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command,\u00a0 confirmed the incident in a statement.<\/p>\n

According to him,\u00a0 the Command had been alerted by a distress call that \u201cat approximately 09:20 am, a group of yet to be identified cult members had invaded their community and were attempting to rob law-abiding citizens of their belongings\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn response to the call, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police immediately ordered the Divisional Police Officer, \u201cA\u201d Division Jos, to deploy Police officers and detectives to the scene and begin investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon arrival, our team discovered that an angry mob had taken matters into their own hands and pursued the invaders, mobbed them and set them ablaze, the statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Police in collaboration with the leadership of Jos North Local Government Area have evacuated the burnt bodies from the scene and deposited them at the hospital morgue.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon intensifying our investigation into the incident, two locally fabricated pistols, believed to belong to the unidentified cult members, were recovered from the scene.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
