Several Nigerians have protested in Abuja, demanding the immediate resignation of Melee Kyari, as Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL.<\/p>\n

Led by some Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, the protesters, comprising mainly\u00a0 youths stormed the NNPCL towers in Abuja, demanding that Kyari must resign.<\/div>\n
\n

They accused him of incompetence, citing rising prices of fuel, protracted fuel scarcity and long queues, resulting in more economic hardship for Nigerians.<\/p><\/div>\n

The protesters, who wielded various placards, beating different inscriptions, such as \u201cwe demand the immediate resignation of Kyari\u201d, saying he his leadership had failed Nigerians.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Abdullahi Bilal,\u00a0one of the conveners,\u00a0 who addressed journalists called for an end to \u201cfraudulent fuel subsidy\u201d and also claimed that adulterated fuel was being imported into the country.<\/div>\n
\nHe said: “Today, we call for the immediate resignation of Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe demand the complete removal of the fraudulent fuel subsidy regime that has only served to enrich a select few. Full deregulation is necessary to introduce transparency, competition and fairness to our oil sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also demand an end to the importation of adulterated fuel into Nigeria. This harmful practice must stop immediately and those responsible must be held accountable for the damage caused to our vehicles, businesses, and livelihoods.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
