\nSocial media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, VDM, has been detained by the Nigerian Police.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju made this known in a post on social media platform X on Thursday night.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He said was detained after honouring a police invitation.<\/div>\n
\nVeryDarkMan had in a viral video earlier apologised for donning police uniform in a recent video.<\/div>\n
\nHowever, Adeyanju wrote on X: \u201cOur client, VDM has been detained after honouring police invitation just like yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cVDM who has been consistent in saying the Nigerian Police are our friends even when we all know they are not.\u201d<\/p>\n

VDM had donned a police uniform, and jokingly to be a \u201cChief Superintendent of Police (CSP) of the Online Division.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
The police had described VDM’s use of police uniform as inappropriate and launched an investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n

VDM on Thursday, shared an apology video, regretting his action in wearing attire that looked like police uniform and enjoined Nigerians to obtain proper authorisation before wearing police uniforms to prevent misunderstandings or potential legal issues.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\u201cBack from the police station where I was interrogated based on the post I made wearing a costume that the police claim is similar to theirs,” VeryDarkMan\u00a0stated.<\/p>\n
