Julius Abure the embattled Labour Party chairman, was on Tuesday reinstated in his position by a Federal High Court in Abuja.<\/p>\n
Obiora Ifoh,\u00a0the party\u2019s National Publicity Secretary,\u00a0in a statement issued on Tuesday, said\u00a0the court certified the 2024 Labour Party national convention in Nnewi, where\u00a0 Abure was reelected, stating that the exercise conformed with all laid down laws in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Delivering the ruling, the presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to recognise and accord all privileges to the Abure-led Labour Party\u2019s National Working Committee, NWC.<\/p>\n
Recall that the INEC had earlier said it did not recognise Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, arguing that the Abure-led LP leadership, which emerged from the March 2024 National Convention, was invalid.<\/p>\n
The Electoral umpire added that the convention was in breach of both the Nigerian Constitution and the Electoral Act.<\/p>\n
