By Publisher\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Kindly share:<\/p>\n Rebecca Ako, a female suspect, has blamed her involvement with fake currency deals to her divorce from her husband.<\/p>\n The 30-year-old woman said she went into the business because of hardship after her husband left her.<\/span><\/p>\n She made the disclosure when she was paraded on Tuesday at the Osun Amotekun Corps headquarters in Osogbo, saying she returned N50,000 genuine money for every N100,000 given to her by her employer.<\/span><\/p>\n According to her, she was introduced to the business by her former neighbour, identified as Elizabeth, who felt she was doing her a favour since she needed a means of survival.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThere is a woman I used to live with when my husband left me,\u00a0 the woman later left for Abuja and she called me one day and introduced me to the fake money business. She said I could spend it, though she told me it was fake money,\u201d she added.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhen she gives me N100,0000 of fake money I give her N50,000 of original money. That\u2019s how I used it and I was caught. I\u2019m from Benue State but I live in Owena.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cShe gave me N100,000 in December last year and later gave me another N100,000 this year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Adekunle Omoyele, the Amotekun Corps Commandant, had stated that the suspect was arrested at Sabo Market Ilesa on September 16, 2024, while using a fake N1,000 denomination to purchase items from unsuspecting traders in the market.<\/span><\/p>\n He added: \u201cThe suspect confessed that one Mrs Elizabeth in Abuja was selling the fake currency through a dispatch from Abuja.
