Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has emerged as as the Edo state governor-elect, following his victory in\u00a0 Saturday\u2019s gubernatorial election.<\/span><\/p>\n According to results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, represented by the Returning Officer, Prof. Faruq Adamu Kuta, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Niger State, Okpbholo won 11 out of the 18 local government areas of the state having polled the highest number of votes, 291,667 votes.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0Asue Ighodalo, who flew the flag of the People\u2019s Democratic Party, PDP, took the second spot, with 247,274 votes while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, LP, came a distant third having scored 22,763 votes.<\/span><\/p>\n However, the result was received with mixed feelings as many believe it does not reflect the true wishes of Edo people.<\/span><\/p>\n The Coalition of Accredited Election Observers Group, has vowed to expose malpractice in the election.<\/span><\/p>\n In a statement issued the coalition’s National Coordinator, Dr. Onwubuya\u00a0 Abraham Breakforth, the coalition said it observed various malpractices, adding that the coalition has a total of 367 election observers across all the polling units and electoral wards to observe the conduct of the election.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe coalition observes unbelievable logistics challenges where electoral materials don\u2019t arrive at all, purportedly hacked,\u00a0 while some Wards receive late arrivals, while in some Wards, materials arrive\u00a0 incomplete with shortage of most sensitive materials,\u201d the statement read.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe coalition observed terrible malpractices and manipulation of results at\u00a0 some LGA collation centers in about 104 polling\u00a0 across twelve (12,) LGAs of Edo State.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe coalition has on records in cameras, video clips of unbelievable compromise of the electoral process at some Wards, LGAs and the State Collation centre.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe coalition is currently compiling all the observed evidence in figures and\u00a0 data before , during\u00a0 and after the election.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Okpebholo By Publisher Kindly share: Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has emerged as as the…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2542,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2,3],"tags":[733,348],"class_list":["post-2541","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-politics","tag-edo-governorship-election","tag-senator-monday-okpebholo"],"yoast_head":"\n
