The Delta State Police Command on Tuesday announced the arrest of five suspects for allegedly kidnapping a 70-year-old woman and collecting the sum of N7.9 million ransom before releasing her.<\/span><\/p>\n Disclosing the arrest on its Facebook wall, the police revealed that\u00a0 the Crack Squad attached to the Area Command, Ughelli, nabbed the suspects at their hideout inside a brothel at Ewu Town, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The suspects were identified as Dominic Uweru, Isaac Oghenerukevwe, Oviri Godstime, Junior Sunday and Efedeki Adjovo.<\/span><\/p>\n It was gathered that the police got a tip-off about their kidnapping activities and stormed the hideout where they were arrested.<\/span><\/p>\n The police disclosed that one single-barrel gun, three locally-made cut to size pistols, the sum of N450,000 suspected to be ransom money, Point of Sales machines, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, among others, were recovered from them.<\/span><\/p>\n According to the police: \u201cThe suspects have confessed to kidnapping the septuagenarian and collecting N7.9 million as ransom before releasing her.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThey also admitted committing other crimes, including\u00a0 robbery operations in Ughelli and neighbouring communities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe suspects are currently in custody and undergoing more interrogations and would be charged to court at the end of the investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAccording to him, \u201cOn 05\/09\/24 at 1330hrs Anti-crime patrol team of Aboh division, while on stop and search duty in Aboh town intercepted one motorcycle conveying two occupants carrying a bag, the occupants were subjected to a routine search, while the search was going on, one of them took to his heels and escaped.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cNine Hundred and Thirty Rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered in the bag. The other suspect Anthony Godday was immediately arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cOn 12\/09\/2024 at about 0130hrs\u00a0 Crack Squad attached to Area Command Ughelli acting on a tip off,\u00a0 stormed a brothel cum criminal hideout in Ewu town Ughelli South LGA and arrested five suspects namely; Dominic Uweru, alias Ovwolo, 48, Isaac Oghenerukevwe, alias Plug, 34, Oviri Godstime, Junior Sunday and Efedeki Adjovo.<\/span><\/p>\n One single barrel gun, three locally made cut-to-size gun, cash sum of Four hundred and fifty thousand naira (#450,000.00) ransom one Moniepoint POS machine, one OPAY POS machine,\u00a0 wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThey confessed to various armed robbery\/kidnapping operations in Ughelli and environs,\u00a0 including the kidnap of a 70-year-old woman (name withheld) who they kidnapped on 08\/09\/2024 and collected the sum of Seven million, Nine hundred thousand naira ransom (#7,900,000) on 10\/9\/2024 b<\/span>efore her release. The suspects are in custody and the investigation is ongoing.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cActing on credible information, operatives of Agbarho police station stormed the house of one Ovoke Enaike m\u2019 age 43yrs\u00a0 an indigene of Ovierie Ethiope East Local Government Area of\u00a0 Delta State but resides in Ehwerhe Village Agbarho, during the search of his daylong motorcycle with Reg.
