The Metropolitan Police in the UK has introduced a new twist to handling Marital disputes among Nigerian couples.<\/span><\/p>\n It advised Nigerian wives to resist corruptive influence of the society by dealing with marital disputes peacefully and lovingly.<\/span><\/p>\n The police counsel came in a short viral footage during a church service at Divine Restoration International Church in Camberwell, London, on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n The advice comes in the heels of <\/span>reports that Nigerian wives in the UK were reporting their husbands to the police for sundry reasons, such as criminal activity, domestic violence, child abuse, and cultural misunderstandings.<\/span><\/p>\n The police officer, who spoke in fluent Yoruba said: \u201cWe all pray never to see our children\u2019s graveyards. Nigerians have always prayed to leave children behind, but today, it seems the opposite is happening.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe must change our mindset, especially women who feel their husbands are unimportant. They should return to their roots.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cYou see, that man (husband), even if he isn\u2019t contributing much, just being at home sometimes makes a difference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAs a woman, there are times when you may want to talk to your child, and they might not listen to you, but they will listen to their father.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBut if you\u2019re a mother on your own, the child might not obey you. However, when the father says \u2018stop,\u2019 the child will obey. Even if the man isn\u2019t doing much, try as much as possible to manage it. Though there\u2019s little room for management, how we build our homes sometimes matters.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Continuing, the police said: \u201cSome women feel men are insignificant because of the circumstances we find ourselves in. We are here because we want to help people back in Nigeria, but if you look at some of them back home, they are looking better than you, and don\u2019t think if you don\u2019t send money to them, you\u2019ll die. Please, take care of your husband.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWomen, think about your home, and if you allow the society we live in to corrupt us, it becomes a problem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve got to work together and make it work. We, the police, are here to help you; we\u2019re not your enemies but your friends.
