Nigeria priotising social dialogue, decent work environment – Minister tells world leaders in Geneva<\/div>\n

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has reiterated the federal government\u2019s commitment to promoting social dialogue and enhancing favorable work conditions for employees in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Onyejeocha also highlighted the government\u2019s focus on food security, job creation, poverty reduction, and social unity, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s \u201cRenewed Hope Agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to a statement by her Spokesperson, Emameh Gabriel, the Minister stated these during her address at the ongoing 112th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>\n
The Minister further commended the Director-General for choosing a timely theme, which underscores the vital connection between individuals and societies in advancing social cohesion, economic strength, and political harmony.<\/p>\n
She noted that the theme resonates well with the \u201cRenewed Hope Agenda\u201d of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s administration, aimed at positioning Nigeria as a leading global investment destination.<\/p>\n

\nOnyejeocha said: \u201cThe agenda is hinged on the Core Pillars \u20184-D Diplomacy Strategy\u2019 centred on promoting democracy, driving economic development, harnessing Nigeria\u2019s demographic potential, and engaging with the diaspora community. The eight Priority Areas of the Agenda aims to pursue economic prosperity for the country through food security, poverty eradication, economic growth, job creation, access to capital, inclusiveness, improving the security of life and property, rule of law and fight against corruption which will help build a more just and equitable society reminding both Nigerians and the global community that Nigeria stands ready to embrace the future and conduct business in line with International Best Practice.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Nigerian government has provided enabling environment for social dialogue with the tripartite constituents to advance social justice and has solicited tripartite plus cooperation to align with government\u2019s agenda in the labour sector to promote workers welfare and boost national productivity\u201d<\/p>\n
The Minister highlighted significant advancements by the government in various areas, such as the implementation of key programs, ratification of ILO conventions including Convention 190, revival of the National Labour Advisory Council, labor law review, establishment of Job Centers, upgrading Skill Acquisition Centers, and creating Migration Resource Centers, among others.<\/p>\n
