Waheed Ayilara, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, is dead.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ayilara died this morning (Thursday), 29 August, 2024 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was gathered that the police boss had gone for a prostate cancer surgery on yesterday, 28 August, 2024 but sadly, he died a day after.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ayilara was reportedly hale and hearty two days earlier on Monday, 26 August, 2024, during the pull out ceremony for Assistant Inspector General of Police, Yetunde Longe and actually walked into the hospital on Wednesday for the surgery.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was a practising Muslim and would be buried today in accordance with Islamic rites.<\/span><\/p>\n

The deceased had acted as the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State before his posting to Akwa Ibom in substantive capacity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
