By Amah<\/span><\/p>\n Kindly share:<\/span><\/p>\n Scores of bandits in the Gudiri community of Bashar District in the Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State were killed or injured in a recent onslaught by operatives of Operation Safe Haven, OPSH, in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n The OPSH attack followed the kidnap and killing of a police officer in the Kampani community of Bashar District.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The remains of the slain cop were subsequently found in a nearby bush.<\/span><\/p>\n Operatives of OPSH raided the bandits\u2019 camp at about 5:30 p.m. where a fierce gun duel, which lasted for several hours, ensued.<\/span><\/p>\n The superior firepower of the\u00a0 OPSH operatives overwhelmed the bandits and recovered over one hundred cattle from their den.<\/span><\/p>\n A hunter who accompanied the security operatives to the bandits\u2019 hideout\u00a0 disclosed that several bandits were killed while many others escaped with various injuries, adding that three soldiers sadly lost paid the supreme price during the attack.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt was a fierce battle. The bandits initially tried to resist the military but were overpowered by superior firepower,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMore than 15 bandits were killed, and many others fled with gunshot wounds. Three soldiers also died in the process.
