PDP clears all Bauchi council seats<\/span><\/p>\n PDP clears all Bauchi council seats<\/span><\/p>\n The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has won all the 20 chairmanship seats in the just concluded Local Government elections Bauchi State.<\/span><\/p>\n Ahmed Makama, the Chairman, Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission, BASIEC, described the polls as peaceful across the state.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cFor the chairmanship election, PDP won all the 20 seats as declared at the local government levels,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAnd for the Councillors, the results were declared in the wards with other parties emerging victorious,\u201d adding that the victors would be issued their certificates of return on Sunday, August 18.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Meanwhile, the <\/span>state governor, Bala Mohammed, <\/span>on Sunday swore in the <\/span>\u00a0newly elected chairmen.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMy administration believes that the people should have a say in local government administration through the election of the leaders,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis has become even more necessary with the autonomy the Supreme Court recently granted the councils to run their affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt is for this reason that our party, the PDP, nominated and presented knowledgeable, experienced and competent candidates to vie for the chairmanships and councillorship seats.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWith the victory of our candidates, I\u2019m confident that we will have the desired leadership to effectively administer our local governments as an autonomous third tier of government.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The governor charged the new LG helmsmen to cooperate with the state government so that all could work together to serve the people.<\/span><\/p>\n Mr Mahmood Baba-Maji, the Chairman of Bauchi Local Government, spoke on behalf of his colleagues, and promised to justify the trust the electorate reposed in them.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe will serve diligently; we assure you that policies and programmes of the state government will be replicated in our various local governments,\u201d he said<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Amah Kindly share: PDP clears all Bauchi council seats PDP clears all Bauchi council seats The Peoples Democratic Party,…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":1741,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2,3],"tags":[511],"class_list":["post-1740","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-politics","tag-bauchi-state-independent-electoral-commission"],"yoast_head":"\n
