The Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Thursday provoked protesters during the #EndBadGovernanceProtest in the state to anger when he promised to give them money for ‘pure water’ when the protesters stormed the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.<\/span><\/p>\n

The governor had while addressing the protesters appealed to them to return home offering to give them money to buy \u2018pure water’.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI thank you for being peaceful. I thank you for coming. I feel your pain. I want to assure you that I will deliver your message to the President,\u201d Fubara said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHere in Rivers State, we will do everything to make life better. But all we need from you is to support the Federal Government. We know there is hunger but just be patient with the government.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI will give you a small thing for you to drink pure water.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

However, his offer provoked the youths, who chorused: “No no; we don\u2019t need your money, \u2018keep your money\u2019, \u2018we want good governance in Nigeria\u2019, Tinubu must go.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Fubara’s attempt to assuage the youths and explain what he meant failed, as they continued to talk back with annoyance.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, he kept waving to them as he alighted down from where he stood in front of the government house and left.<\/span><\/p>\n
