It must understand the concerns of the people before presenting solutions. It must enter communities not merely to ask for votes but to have conversations about the future of the zone.

Nwelue’s confidence in Onyirimba is rooted in what she sees as a combination of experience, exposure, professional competence, philanthropy and an understanding of the demands of leadership beyond the immediate political environment.

She believes representation in the Senate requires more than the ability to win an election. It requires someone who can understand legislative processes, engage institutions, build relationships, attract opportunities and articulate the interests of his people with confidence.

That, she argues, is the value Onyirimba brings to the table.

But she also understands that voters must reach that conclusion for themselves. The campaign’s task, therefore, is not to force an opinion on the people. It is to present the option clearly and allow the people to make an informed choice.

Nwelue is encouraged by the support that is already emerging around the campaign. From grassroots actors to professionals, women, young people, community leaders and supporters of the Transformation Agenda, she sees a growing willingness to participate in a political conversation about the future of Okigwe.

She considers that support both encouraging and humbling. But she does not mistake early enthusiasm for victory.

For her, support creates an obligation to work harder. A campaign that speaks the language of the market woman, the farmer, the professional, the student, the artisan, the young entrepreneur and the community leader.

She also places strong emphasis on communication.

In an age where misinformation can spread faster than facts, she believes the campaign must maintain a consistent, credible and compelling voice. The people must know what Onyirimba stands for, what he brings to the table and what his representation can mean for the zone. But, perhaps, most importantly, she intends to lead a campaign that listens.

Nwelue does not see herself as the DG who sits in an office and waits for reports. She sees herself as a field commander. She intends to engage, coordinate, mobilise, evaluate and continuously adjust the campaign’s strategy according to realities on the ground.

Her emergence as Director-General also carries symbolic significance.

At a time when women are often assigned peripheral roles in political campaigns, Nwelue occupies a position at the heart of the campaign’s operational structure. She does not see the appointment as a gender statement alone.

She sees it as a statement about trust and competence. And she intends to justify that trust through results.

For Nwelue, leadership is not about occupying the biggest chair in the room. It is about accepting responsibility for the outcome.

That philosophy explains why she accepts the Onyirimba assignment despite the enormous challenge ahead.

She knows there will be criticism. She knows there will be doubts. She knows there will be attempts to reduce the campaign to another political project. Her answer is work.

As 2027 approaches, Nwelue wants the people of Okigwe Zone to see the election for what she believes it truly is: a choice about the direction of the zone.

The choice, in her view, is not simply between candidates. It is between different ideas of representation. It is between settling for what has always been and demanding what is possible. It is between voting from habit and voting from conviction.

It is between asking “Who is popular?” and asking the more important question: “Who has the capacity to represent us effectively?”

That is the conversation she wants to lead. And she is under no illusion that words alone will win it. She knows the campaign must work for every vote.

It must earn trust. It must answer questions. It must confront cynicism with consistency. It must transform supporters into volunteers, volunteers into mobilisers and mobilisation into votes.

Above all, it must convince the people that this is not another temporary political excitement. It is a serious attempt to redefine what Okigwe expects from its representative.

For Favour Nwelue, that is why she accepts the assignment. Not for the title. Not for the applause. Not simply for the excitement of another election.

She accepts it because she believes in him.
