A prominent voice in the unfolding political conversation in Okigwe Zone, Attorney Charles Onyirimba, has called on the people of the zone to embrace the spirit of Easter as a catalyst for renewal, unity, and a renewed push for purposeful representation.
Speaking in a passionate Easter message made available to journalists on Sunday, Onyirimba drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and what he described as the “long-awaited rebirth” of Okigwe Zone after years of what many residents have lamented as poor and ineffective representation.
According to him, “Easter reminds us that no situation is beyond redemption. The Cross was not the end; it was the pathway to glory. In the same vein, the story of Okigwe will not end in neglect or decline; there is a rising ahead.”
The legal practitioner-turned political figure noted that while the zone has experienced intermittent progress in the past, it has largely struggled under leadership that failed to translate opportunity into tangible development.
He emphasised that the season calls not just for reflection, but for decisive action among the people, urging stakeholders across the six local government areas of the zone to close ranks and pursue a common vision of transformation.
“It is time to move from passive hope to active engagement,” Onyirimba stated. “The kind of representation Okigwe deserves must be intentional, one that listens, that fights for the people, and that delivers measurable progress.”
Observers say the message, though framed as a seasonal goodwill statement, carries a clear political undertone, with Onyirimba positioning himself as part of a new wave of leadership determined to rewrite the narrative of the zone.
Without making direct campaign declarations, he assured the people that a new chapter is within reach, one marked by youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and stronger advocacy at the national level.
He further urged the people not to lose faith in the collective destiny of the zone, insisting that just as the stone was rolled away from the tomb, “every obstacle standing in the way of Okigwe’s advancement shall give way.”
“As Christ rose in victory, so shall Okigwe rise into a future of dignity, strength, and meaningful progress,” he added.
The Easter message comes amid growing political realignments in Okigwe Zone, as stakeholders and aspirants begin subtle engagements ahead of the next electoral cycle.
For many residents, Onyirimba’s message may well signal the emergence of a renewed contest of ideas, and expectations that the zone’s long quest for effective representation may finally be within grasp.
