Panic and disbelief swept through the University of Jos community on Friday after the remains of a baby were discovered inside a clogged drainage pipe connected to a female hostel in the Naraguta area of the campus.
The disturbing discovery was reportedly made after students raised concerns about a persistent foul odour and a malfunctioning sewage system within the hostel. In response, maintenance workers were called in to trace and fix the blockage.
According to eyewitness accounts, the situation took a grim turn when plumbers, while dismantling sections of the drainage pipe, uncovered what appeared to be the remains of a baby lodged within the system. The shocking find immediately triggered outrage, fear, and emotional reactions among students and nearby residents.
It was gathered that the remains of the baby were discovered during routine repair work aimed at clearing the blocked pipes, suggesting that the baby might have been disposed of through the toilet, though the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
The incident has left many students deeply shaken, with several expressing disbelief that such a tragedy could occur within the confines of a university hostel. Calls have intensified for a thorough investigation to determine what happened and to identify anyone involved.
