The management of Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, has expelled no fewer than 15 female students for their involvement in sex video–related offences, reaffirming the institution’s strict stance on discipline.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, made the disclosure on Friday during the university’s matriculation ceremony, where 936 newly admitted students formally took the matriculation oath.
Addressing the fresh students, Prof. Ayorinde warned against acts capable of jeopardising their academic future, stressing that the university operates a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct.
According to him, inappropriate use of social media, drug abuse, and actions that tarnish the image of the institution would attract severe sanctions, including outright dismissal.
“You put your phone in front of you, dance naked, and mention Achievers University — I will dismiss you,” he said. “Use social media for positive things.”
He further revealed that disciplinary measures are not limited to sexual misconduct. Prof. Ayorinde cited the case of a student who was expelled for making a statement perceived as a security threat to the institution.
“One of them, who was close to graduation, was caught saying that if Boko Haram came to Achievers University, he would deal with them. We refunded his ₦2.3 million school fees and dismissed him,” he said.
Emphasising parental sacrifice, the Pro-Chancellor urged students to make responsible choices. “Use the money you are paying here wisely, not for making sex videos or taking drugs. We have dismissed more than 15 female students over sex video offences,” he added.
The university’s management reiterated its commitment to maintaining moral discipline, academic integrity, and a secure learning environment.
