Tragedy struck on Monday after a truck laden with sharp sand crashed into a church building, killing six worshippers in the Epe area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 8.30pm along Hospital Road in the community.
Several other worshippers also reportedly sustained injuries in the incident.
According to an eyewitness, the truck was descending the road towards a roundabout when its brakes suddenly failed.
She added that the driver lost control of the vehicle and plunged into the church.
She explained that the truck was coming downhill toward the roundabout when the driver suddenly realized the brakes had failed. He began shouting and blaring the horn in panic.
In an attempt to avoid ploughing into vehicles and pedestrians at the junction, the driver veered off the road toward a nearby building. Sadly, the truck ended up crashing directly into the church.
