There may be no end in sight for the protracted feud between Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and his out-of-favour godfather, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The Rivers State House of Assembly composed mostly of Wike’s loyalists on Thursday commenced impeachment proceedings against Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Oduh.
According to a live broadcast on Channels Television on Thursday, which was presided over by the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, the Majority Leader, Rivers State House of Assembly, Major Jack, read out the notice of allegations and gross misconduct against Fubara during plenary.
The notice was signed by 26 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, alleging that the governor has flouted the Nigerian Constitution.
According to the Speaker the notice would be served on Fubara within seven days.
Linda Stewart, the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, also read out the notice alleged gross misconduct against Oduh, the deputy governor.
