Fayose and Obasanjo

Ayo Fayose, the former Governor of Ekiti State governor, has engaged former President Olusegun Obasanjo in a verbal spat, following the latter’s remarks at his 65th birthday celebration on Saturday.
Obasanjo had used the occasion to rebuke Fayose for his behaviour towards him.
However, Fayose in an sms ‘Thank you’ letter to Obasanjo for attending his ceremony, Fayose lampooned the former president for his statements and alleged that Obasanjo was suffering from dementia.
Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, on Monday made the ‘Thank you’ note available to newsmen in Abeokuta.
“Dear Baba Obasanjo, I trust this meets you well.Your coming to my birthday party, I appreciate you except for your very irresponsible comments at your age. You went so low but I am not surprised because someone once said you are supposed to be kept away in the zoo. Sincerely that’s where you belong,” the biting note read.
“I kept quiet or did not reply you at the function so that the world will know the difference between a sane and a mad man that you are.It is also obvious that you have also lost your sanity OR should I say is the heightened stage of dementia.Not to worry Baba., I shall set the records straight in due course of time.Lastly I shall appreciate if you return my money since you publicly admitted you received but Dangote brought u back.
“Your leopard will never change his skin”, the letter reads.
Responding to Fayose’s note, Obasanjo replied tacitly: “Ayo, thanks for your “Thank You” message which undisguisedly revealed who and what you are, unchanged and unchangeable. Your money has been sent back through Foluso Adeagbo who brought it and in the same bag as he brought it unopened by me”.Obj.”
Obasanjo had described Fayose at the birthday bash barely 48 hours earlier as “not the best” of his political protégés though he acknowledged his political accomplishments.
Both men have had a protracted toxic relationship, including the 2006 impeachment incident.
