Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, was on Saturday expelled by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Wike was expelled alongside former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary of the party, and some other senior members for alleged anti-party activities by the Umar Damagun-led faction of the leading opposition party.
Others include Bature Adeyemi Ajibade (SAN); Mohammed Abdulrahman; Mao Ohuabunwa, factional BoT chairman; Austin Nwachukwu; George Turner; Abraham Amali; and Dan Orbi.
The faction also announced the dissolution of the party’s executive committees in Rivers, Abia, Imo, Plateau, and Enugu States.
The decisions were taken on Saturday at the ongoing PDP Elective National Convention in Ibadan.
The motion for the expulsion of the affected chieftains was moved by a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Bode George, while Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, moved the motion for the dissolution of the affected state structures.
According to both leaders, the actions were taken in line with Section 33, Subsection 2 of the PDP Constitution (2017).
