A faction loyal of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has appointed Mao Ohuabunwa as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BoT.
The factional Acting National Chairman of the party, Abdulrahman Mohammed, on Friday inaugurated the Board in Abuja, with Isah Dansidi as Secretary.
The duo was named as replacements for Adolphus Wabara and Ahmed Makarfi on the board.
After the inauguration, the faction issued a communique, saying Wabara and Makarfi we’re replaced in the interest of neutrality, integrity, and moral authority.
“The Board noted that the immediate past BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, and Secretary, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, having publicly taken positions in the ongoing intra-party crisis, can no longer continue to serve in their previous capacities in order to preserve the neutrality, integrity, and moral authority of the BoT,” the communique signed by Ohuabunwa and Dansidi partly read.
“Accordingly, the Board unanimously approved the election of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, who, like Senator Adolphus Wabara, hails from the South, and Hon. Isah Dansidi, who, like Senator Ahmed Makarfi hails from the North, as the Chairman and Secretary of the newly constituted Board of Trustees respectively.”
It thanked Wabara and Dansidi for their past services to the party, wishing them well in their future endeavours.
The BoT also commended all stakeholders for their resilience and continued faith in the PDP despite recent challenges, and urged members to continue to act with decorum and shared commitment to the unity and progress of the party.
The Board reaffirmed that genuine reconciliation and cooperation remain the bedrock of sustainable peace and collective advancement within the PDP.
It pledged its commitment to strengthening the internal democratic culture of the party, promoting transparency, inclusiveness, and institutional respect.
Furthermore, it said: “The Board affirms that only through adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, the INEC Guidelines, the Party’s Constitution, and mutual respect can the PDP continue to serve as the true custodiart of Nigeria’s democratic ideals.”
