Less than 24 hours after Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, another governor has dumped the opposition party.
This time, Douye During, the Bayelsa State Governor on Wednesday announced his exit from the former ruling party.
However, Diri, who made his decision known at the exco chamber in the Bayelsa State Government House, on Wednesday, did not disclose his next political party.
The governor was supported by 23 members of the House of Assembly, including the Speaker.
Mr. Daniel Alabrah, Diri’s Chief Press Secretary, in a post on Facebook said the governor resigned from the PDP alongside the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, and all the PDP members in the state legislature.
It was also gathered that the governor has since submitted his resignation letter to the PDP.
Furthermore, all members of the State Executive Council followed after the governor’s footstep and quit the embattled party, which has suffered devastating setback in recent times due to gripping internal crisis.
