Armed robbers kill broadcaster in Abuja

Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, popularly known as Sommie, an ARISE News Channel broadcaster, was on Monday killed during an armed robbery attack at her residence, Abuja.

Police authorities have confirmed the tragic incident, which occurred in the Katampe area of the federal capital have commenced investigationsinto the circumstances surrounding her killing.

The 29-year-old Sommie, worked as a news anchor, reporter, and producer with ARISE News. She was also a trained lawyer.

ARISE News in a statement mourned her untimely passing, describing it as a devastating loss.

While extending condolences to her family the news channel said that the slain reporter was a vibrant professional who inspired and connected we’ll with viewers. It charged security agencies to fish out and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Her death has cast a pall of grief on the Nigerian media industry, as colleagues, friends, and viewers poured tributes on her.
