Mayhem in Anambra as gunmen strike again, kill four, injure 15 at burial ceremony

No fewer than four persons have been dispatched to the great beyond in Anambra State by gunmen suspected to be cultists.

The incident on Thursday occurred during a burial ceremony at Ezi Village, Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement by Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson of the Anambra Police Command, the hoodlums stormed the burial event and opened fire on guests, killing four persons and leaving 15 others critically injured.

“Police operatives from Ogidi Division, led by the divisional police officer, swiftly mobilised to the scene, restored normalcy, and immediately evacuated the (injured) victims to hospitals for medical attention,” the statement read.

Ikenga further disclosed that the police recovered 16 cartridges expended during the operation, adding that a manhunt had been launched to identify and apprehend the attackers.

He promised that “further developments will be communicated in due course.”
