A faction of the Labour Party led by Julius Abure has blasted the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for preferring the candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to its own.
Obi had canvassed support for Justina Azuka, the candidate of the ADC in tomorrow’s by-election in Anambra State and urged his supporters to vote for ADC candidates nationwide.
However, angered by Obi’s decision, Abure described him as an “Uber” politician in a statement on Friday, and accused the former Anambra governor of elevating subterfuge to an art in politics and recently “crying wolf where there is none.”
The factional chairman also claimed that Obi has effectively entered the Guinness Book of Records for affiliating with multiple political parties simultaneously, saying it was a sign of desperation to become the president of Nigeria.
“It is unfortunate that Obi has turned himself to an irony and a paradox in the Nigeria political space,” Abure said in the statement he personally signed.
“He has turned himself into “Uber” politician, not willing to take a position and stand by his decision.”
