Katsina to pay monthly stipends to Christian clerics, approve teaching of CRS
In a bold move to foster religious harmony in Katsina State, Governor Dikko Umar Radda has approved the payment of monthly stipends for Christian clerics as well as the recruitment of Christian Religious Studies, CRS, teachers.
This was announced in a statement signed by Dr. Musa Daniel Danladi, the Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Katsina State,
on behalf of Very Rev. Fr. Richard Shuaibu Liti, the chairman.
The CAN noted that the recruitment of CRS teachers has been a long-standing request from the Christian community.
The body described the decision as a significant step towards inclusivity and moral development.
Additionally, Musa said the recruitment of teachers would help improve Christian students’ academic results and moral upbringing, while the stipends would encourage pastors to continue praying for peace and progress in the state.
While appreciating Governor Radda, the CAN scribe urged qualified Christians to apply online for the teaching positions to contribute to the moral and academic growth of young people and wished that the initiative would go beyond the current administration.
