Twelve lives were lost and five persons injured in a lone auto accident early Friday in Kano.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in the state, Muhammed Bature who confirmed the figures, said that the accident occurred at about 2.40a.m on Friday at Samawa Village in Garun Malam Local Government Area, on Zaria-Kano highway.
Bature, in a statement in Kano, said the accident involved a DAF CF95 trailer, with registration number KMC 931 ZE loaded with goods.
He said that the incident involved 19 persons. Twelve persons died while five others sustained varying degrees of injuries and two unhurt.
The sector commander explained that the accident occurred when the trailer lost control and crashed because its cab detached from its body due to a mechanical failure in the trailer’s cab hook.
“The deceased victims were evacuated and deposited at Nassarawa Hospital, while the injured were taken to Kura General Hospital for medical attention,” he said.
The sector commander cautioned drivers against speeding, dangerous driving, and other unwholesome practices that might endanger lives and property. (NAN)
