Lucky escape as man is rescued alive from collapsed building after 10 hours

A 27-year-old man had a close shave with death after being rescued alive after being trapped for about 10 hours under the rubble of a collapsed three-storey building in the Lifecamp area of Abuja on Friday evening.

Operatives of the FCT police command, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Development Control Department
and construction companies including Julius Berger and Zeberced, quickly mobilised a rescue team to the scene.

According to Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the command, the victim, Nigerien national, identified as Aliyu Salisu, was pulled out from the rubble early Saturday morning and rushed to Cedar Crest Hospital, Gudu, for treatment.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, who visited the site to during the operation, lauded the emergency responders, construction workers, and community members for their coordinated efforts towards the rescue operation.
