The Super Falcons of Nigeria have secured a record-breaking 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, championship after erasing a two-goal deficit to thrash hosts Morocco 3–2.
Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaâ Mssoudy’s scored two first-half goals ignite Morocco’s hope of triumph.
However, undaunted, the Nigerian side fought back gallantly, resulting in
Esther Okoronkwo converting a penalty, and then set up Folashade Ijamilusi for the equalizer.
Barely two minutes before full time, Nigeria struck again through Okoronkwo’s precise set-piece, which found Jennifer Echegini, who smashed in the winner and confirmed Super Falcons’ dominance in African women’s football.
