A major political activity was witnessed in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State at the weekend when the Transformation Agenda platform inaugurated its executive members.

The group, which has been involved in underground political engineering in the recent past witnessed the formal collapse of four other groups into the mainstream and is now set to search out a suitable senatorial candidate for the beleaguered zone in the 2027 general election.

The group believes that Okigwe Zone, otherwise known as Imo North Senatorial District, has been unlucky in terms of the quality of representatives it had sent to the National Assembly in the past, attributing the zone’s backwardness to the poor representation it has received over the years.

The sole agenda of the group is to identify a credible person to send to the Senate in 2027, a selfless individual, who has what it takes to bring home dividends of democracy to the people.

All the zonal coordinators, women and youth leaders of the group, comprising Transformation Patriots, Transformation Matrons, Transformation Youth Vanguard, and Transformation Eaglets, drawn from all the six local governments in the zone were fully represented.

Welcoming the group to the well-attended inauguration ceremony, after a rapturous praise and worship session, Igwe Mbama, the Zonal Coordinator of the group, explained that the inauguration was being done to empower the leaders to start holding meetings in earnest and brainstorm on how their mandate would be achieved. He added that the central leadership would be monitoring their activities and urged regular briefing on activities.

Hon. Mrs Favour Nwelue, the national coordinator and Alex woman leader of the Transformation Group, who is also Ada Okigwe, appreciated all the groups and reiterated that the inauguration was to enable the leaders to work.

She lauded the groups but particularly tasked them on truthfulness and loyalty. She noted that some people are dependable and would always deliver on assignments given to them faithfully. But she deplored the attitude of some people who do not deliver messages as sent, adding that a leader must deliver and not eat what he was set to deliver on the way. She assured that whoever worked faithfully should be sure of being rewarded in due time.

Nwelue described women as unstoppable. She noted that women always delivered on their assignments if treated well but could also scatter things if they are unfairly treated. He advised the coordinators to carry the women leaders along, insisting, though that leaders must be respected.

Ada Okigwe noted that men have the capacity to gather while advising the youths not to segregate. According to her, everyone would feel secure and encouraged if the youths are in the forefront, adding that it would not augur well if the youths lag behind.
Exhorting members of the Transformation Agenda from I Corinthians 12:12 – 20, – Rev Odinakachukwu Okereke, admitted that, truly the members have individual differences. Nevertheless, he noted that they are in pursuit of one purpose just as the different parts of the body play their different roles in keeping the body functional.

However, the cleric pointed out that it becomes a problem when everyone wants to lead at the same time, saying it is not possible.

“Some don’t follow leaders if they are not the leader. Your work can distinguish you. In a football team, the goalkeeper is as important as the striker. You may not be everywhere, but wherever you are, make your influence be felt there. Remember that you cannot influence anyone if you are not sure of where you are going. If people know where you are going, they will follow you. Ask for the grace to be of great support to the Transformation Agenda,” the man of God couselled.

“Evil people will not represent Okigwe Zone anymore. No blood-soaked hands shall go for Okigwe, whether in the Senate, State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Governor or Presidency. Only those appointed by God will represent Okigwe; when the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice. I urge the representatives of youths, women and men to come together to see that this will be done in Okigwe Zone, even against the will of the selfish men,” Rev. Okereke prayed and dedicated the journey in the name of God the father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Thereafter, all the leaders of the four coalescing groups were inaugurated into their various offices, beginning from the Zonal Coordinators. They swore to an oath of allegiance and commitment to the cause of supporting a credible choice for Okigwe Zone for the 2027 senatorial race.

Earlier, Engr. Donald Onyirimba, the Deputy Chairman of the Transformation Agenda, had expressed optimism that the quest for the transformation of Okigwe Zone is possible. He charged the members to remain steadfast and focused on the ball, adding that the time for the liberation of the zone had come.

On is part, the secretary- general, Chief JOJ Okoroafor, posited that the goal is what every Okigwe son and daughter must embrace. He noted that the zone had suffered enough and must get it right this time.

According to him, there is hope for Okigwe, and he charged the members to sustain the tempo and keep working till victory is won

All the various speakers, including the women’s leader, Lady Mbama, the youth leader, Ferdinald Alakwem; Chief Macaulay Cukwu; Hon. Asagwara Julius, Coordinator of Transformation Patriots in Isiala Mbano; Lady Dr. Rachel; Hon. Patience Eberechukwu, and Sylvanus Okeke, among several others, harped on the same theme.
