APC clears all 20 chairmanship seats, PDP picks one councillorship 

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has won all the 20 chairmanship seats in yesterday’s Lagos State Local Government elections, including the 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state.

According that the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, which announced the result in a statement on Sunday, APC also won 375 councillorship positions, leaving only one ward, Ward D in Yaba, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Babatunde Dosunmu, a former APC member, who defected to the PDP shortly before the poll, trounced the APC contender to emerge victorious in Ward D of the Yaba LCDA.

LASIEC described the elections as largely peaceful, though there were concerns about low voter turnout and alleged irregularities in some places.
