Wike’s aide tackles Egwu, says FCT minister not fading soon

Mr Lere Olayinka, spokesman to the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has taken on former Ebonyi State governor, Dr. Sam Egwu, stating that Wike still had a long way to go in politics.

Egwu had in a statement described Wike as living on borrowed time, adding that the his influence would soon fade.

However, Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, disagreed, saying those waiting for the minister’s political downfall will keep waiting in vain.

He said Wike’s political ascendance was as a result of personal hard work, dedication, commitment and most importantly, God’s grace.

Olayinka dismissed Egwu’s challenge to Wike to make the return of the suspended governor of Rivers, Siminalayi Fubara to office possible, also describing as absurd the allegations that the FCT Minister now exercises the powers of President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly in Rivers.

“This type of statement should not come from a former lawmaker,” he said.

On the threats by a faction of the South-east leaders of the PDP to withdraw their support for the party, Olayinka reasoned that it was not logical for people who could not deliver substantial votes to the PDP in the 2023 elections to be threatening to withdraw their support for the party.

“The PDP constitution is clear as to who is the National Secretary of the party. His name is Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and anyone saying or doing anything contrary is only interested in the collapse of the party,”  he said.
