Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party in the last presidential election, has reacted to the report about his purported agreement to run as the running mate to Atiku Abubakar, the
former Vice President, in the 2027 presidential contest.
Obi, who spoke when he made a donation to a school and hospital project run by the Anglican Church, in Kubwa, Abuja, tacitly responded to the speculation.
The media has been awash with reports, suggesting that Atiku had during a private meeting between both men in the United Kingdom earlier this year offered Obi the vice president slot in a joint ticket, promising to serve only one term, which he was willing to formalise in writing.
Sources privy to the discussions pleaded anonymity but claimed that Obi, who was not averse to the idea, asked to be given time to consult his foot soldiers before going public with the deal.
However, the former Anambra governor said when asked about the purported agreement at the public event, said: “You can make of the report what you want, but I’m in a coalition against bad governance, hunger, and poverty.”
