According to recent report from THE CABLE, Kyari was taken into custody on Friday, and he will likely stay there through the weekend while officials investigate.
The EFCC has not made any official statements yet. However, a letter asking for documents has appeared online.
This letter is directed to the new NNPC CEO, Bayo Ojulari, and it requests details about payments made to 14 current and former officials.
This week, Ojulari also fired the heads of NNPC’s refineries in Kaduna, Port Harcourt, and Warri. This move aims to improve Nigeria’s refining sector.
Sources indicate that money was spent to upgrade these refineries under Kyari’s leadership, but they are still not operating properly.
To fix these problems, Ojulari has created a team led by Mumuni Dagazzau to closely examine all NNPC refineries. They will assess how they are functioning and suggest improvements.
