Ahon said the governor consulted widely with political stakeholders before the decision in the interest of Delta State.
Aniagwu Charles, the Delta Commissioner of Information, and Sen. James Manager also confirmed the development in a press briefing addressed by the duo.
“And in taking that decision, we came to the inevitable conclusion that moving out of the PDP is very, very necessary for us to be able to collaborate with our kiths and kins and build that state that every Deltan can be proud of. We believe that what is happening at the state of the PDP is akin to that palm wine whose states have changed and there was a need for us to change the drinking pattern. And that is why this decision has been taken unanimously by leaders and stakeholders of the party.
“And by the grace of God, on Monday next week, we will be able to make a very big statement as to the fact that we are moving into the APC.”
Adding his voice to the incident, Senator James Manager described the move as expedient at this time of our political history.
“Who is who in PDP Delta was in the meeting, the Governor Oborevwori, Dr ifeanyi Okowa and the speaker Delta State House of Assembly,” he said.
In attendance at the enlarged shareholders meeting at the Government House Asaba, we’re the past and current National Assembly members, the Chairmen of the local government councils and the Delta State executive council members of the PDP.
