Pascal Dozie is dead
Dozie, who founded the bank now subsumed by Access Bank, died on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, a day to 86th birthday.
He was born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri North Local Government Area, Imo State.
He was also the pioneer Chairman of MTN Nigeria.
Dozie attended Our Lady’s School in Emekuku before proceeding to the London School of Economics, where he earned a degree in Economics and a Master’s in Administrative Science.
He founded Diamond Bank in 1991, transforming it into a highly respected financial institution in Nigeria. He later passed the leadership to his son, Uzoma Dozie.
He played a crucial role in the country’s telecom revolution being the pioneer chairman of MTN Nigeria.
In his lifetime, Dozie earned national recognition, including the Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON, honourdue his immense contributions to the growth of Nigeria.
The late business mogul is survived by his wife, Chinyere, and children.
