Natasha
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has triumphed over her traducers, following the rejection of the bid to recall her from the Senate by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
INEC in a statement issued on Thursday, said that failed to meet the requirements for the recall of a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Recall that a group purporting to represent Natasha’s constituents submitted a petition to the INEC, demanding that Natasha should be recalled on the grounds of loss of confidence.
The petitioners claimed that over 250,000 constituents’ signed the petition, out of about 480,000 registered voters in the senatorial district.
However, in a brief statement on Thursday, INEC threw out the petition , saying: “The petition for the recall of the Senator, representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”
