The Ijaw community in Delta State have has staged a mock funeral for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over the state of emergency imposed on Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.

A large crowd of Ijaw people were captured in a trending video on X (formerly Twitter), dancing and chanting as they carry a casket, which was draped by Wike’s poster.

In the symbolic funeral procession, the mourners could be heard chanting, “Wike, rest in peace” in the background.

‘Gone So Soon’  was also inscribed on the casket.

The demonstration is not unconnected with the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State. It also stirred up mixed reactions online. While some users supported the protest, others condemned it.
