Groom kills pregnant bride, 6-year-old daughter, 7 days to wedding

Tragedy has struck in Edo State as a would-be-husband killed his bride, seven days to their wedding ceremony.

It was gathered that the incident happened on March 23, 2025 on Idiagbonya Street in Ovbiogie community, along the Benin-Lagos Expressway.

The bride-to-be, who was identified as Osasu Aimienoho lsaac, was also reportedly pregnant at the time she was killed alongside her six-year-old daughter, Aleluya Uwuigbe by her inrended husband, Wealth Nnamdi, now at large.

The little girl was a product of her previous relationship with another man.

The lovers who were said to have dated for over three years, and scheduled their marriage for March 29, 2025.

Nnamdi reportedly joined the deceased and her daughter in an apartment in the community, where she also carried out petty trading.

However, a source claimed that the couple had an intense disagreement on Sunday, March 23, 2025 but becayse the couple often quarrelled, the
neighbours did not bothered.

Unfortunately, the quarrel turned tragic,  resulting Nnamdi allegedly killing the pregnant woman and her daughter in the room before making good his escape.

“After committing the crime, the man locked up the two deceased persons in the room and escaped to an unknown destination,” the source disclosed.

“The odour that was emitting from the room attracted neighbours who then called the police.

“The police then forced the door open and took the pregnant woman and her daughter to the mortuary,” he said.

The mother of the deceased intended bride, Mrs Esther Gabriel, said she is still in shock over the murder of her daughter and her grand child.

However, the sister of the deceased who called for justice, appealed to the police to help fish out the fleeing intended groom.

Moses Yamu,  the spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, confirmed the incident, promising that the police would pursue the matter to the end.
