The Red Chamber of the National Assembly arrived at the decision after a closed-door session by lawmakers on Thursday, few hours after
the Green Chamber had done the same thus legitimising the controversial state of emergency declaration.
However, the Senate resolved that the president must review or terminate the emergency rule at any time within the six-month period.
Furthermore, another committee of respected Nigerians should be set up to mediate and reconcile the political crisis in the state during the period.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd.), arrived in Rivers on Thursday to take charge of affairs.
