The Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum, has rejected the decision of President Bola Tinubu to declare a State Of Emergency in Rivers State, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and all members of the House of Assembly.

The forum, which is led by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, frowned at the president’s failure to acknowledge the role played by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, in the protracted political crisis in the state.

Mohammed declared full support  of the PDP governors for Governor Fubara and the people of Rivers State and vowed not to allow any attempt to weaken democracy in the state.

According to Mohammed, Tinubu appeared biased by ignoring the role played by his Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in the crisis.

He noted that true leadership required fairness and neutrality, describing the President’s approach as seemingly favouring one side.

Mohammed posited that the FCT minister had acted as if he was above the law because he believed he had the President’s backing.

The PDP governors’ leader stated categorically that the PDP governors would continue to stand for democracy and ensure that the will of the people is respected in Rivers State.

Addressing Tinubu, Mohammed declared: “Mr. President, your silence on the active role played by your Minister of the FCT in the Rivers impasse is golden and enabling”
