Tinubu
Under the Nigerian Constitution, in Section 305, the president is expected to get the support of a two-thirds majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate within two days of issuance before any presidential declaration of emergency would become legitimate.
President Tinubu had announced in a nationwide broadcast a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending all elected officials of the state, including Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his Deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all members of the State House of Assembly for six months.
Thereafter, he appointed a retired Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd.), as sole administrator of the state.
