Nasiru
Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have rescued a kidnap victim who was chained with padlock on neck hands and abandoned inside the forest.
The victim, who was identified as Nasiru Idris, a resident of Farin-Ruwa via Bena in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, was inside Mariga forest.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger State Police spokesperson, disclosed that the victim was rescued by police on February 16, 2025, during a routine patrol.
According to him, the police tactical squad, led by DPO ‘A’ Division Kontagora, stumbled upon Idris during a routine confidence-building patrol along Bangi-Kontagora road.
Abiodun stated that the victim was found hidden deep inside the forest and abandoned by his captors who fled upon spotting the police.
Speaking further, he added that the police tactical squad immediately took Nasiru to the hospital for treatment, adding that the Command has launched an investigation into Nasiru’s kidnapping and is working to arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
